Blackburn Rovers, Millwall, and QPR have shown interest in signing 18-year-old George Nevett from Rochdale this summer. Ipswich Town and Southampton, newly promoted to the Premier League, have also entered the race for the talented center back. Despite his young age, Nevett has already made 35 senior appearances for Rochdale and has been capped by Wales at the Under 19s level.
While Crystal Palace was previously reported to be leading the race for Nevett, a deal has not materialized, leading to an increase in interest from other clubs. Blackburn, Millwall, QPR, and Peterborough United, among others, are now keeping tabs on the promising defender.
Nevett’s first professional contract with Rochdale runs until the end of the 2025/26 season, giving the club room to negotiate any offers that come in for him. While it may be a big ask for Nevett to make an immediate impact in the senior team, his potential and the interest he is generating indicate that he could be a valuable asset for any club that secures his signature.
Given the Premier League interest in Nevett, any Football League club able to sign him would be making a significant acquisition. The potential for future profit and the opportunity to develop in a lower league could make Nevett an appealing target for Blackburn, Millwall, QPR, and Peterborough. Pursuing a deal for Nevett could prove to be a wise move for these interested clubs.
