Reports indicate that Celtic are making another attempt to sign Norwich City striker Adam Idah. Last month, the defending Scottish Premiership champions had a £4 million offer rejected by the Canaries. However, it was revealed on Thursday evening that Celtic have made a renewed bid for the talented 23-year-old, who impressed during his loan spell last season by scoring nine goals in 19 games.
Norwich is reportedly holding out for a deal worth at least £6 million for the Republic of Ireland internationalist, who still has four years left on his current contract. Despite new manager Johannes Hoff Thorup expressing his desire to keep Idah in his plans, the player is said to prefer a return to Celtic. His absence from Norwich’s pre-season camp in Austria has led to disciplinary proceedings.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has made Idah his priority target for a new striker, with only Kyogo Furuhashi available in the senior squad as a recognized No 9. The potential arrival of Idah would boost Celtic’s forward line, who have already signed goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and midfielder Paulo Bernardo. The club is also bracing for the possible departure of star midfielder Matt O’Riley, who is attracting interest from several clubs, including Brighton and Hove Albion.
On the departure front, defender Dane Murray is close to joining Queen’s Park on a season-long loan deal due to ongoing injury issues. Celtic are working to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season while also preparing for potential departures.
