Andoni Iraola has addressed growing speculation linking him with a potential move to Newcastle United, insisting he has made no decisions about his future and is in “no rush” to determine his next step.
The Spanish coach, who has impressed during his time at Bournemouth, confirmed he is preparing to leave the club but stressed that his decision was not influenced by interest from elsewhere.
Iraola responds to Newcastle speculation
With pressure mounting on current Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, Iraola has emerged as one of the names linked with a possible managerial change on Tyneside.
However, when questioned directly about those links, Iraola played down the rumours and maintained that no discussions have taken place with any club.
“It’s good that you asked me,” he said. “The decision was not about any other club. There has been no other club involved. It was about continuing here or not continuing here.
“I don’t know what I’m going to do next season. I don’t know if I’m going to coach a club, a national team, or not coach at all. I have no idea what’s going to happen.”
Despite the speculation, Iraola emphasized that his focus remains on finishing the current campaign strongly, with Bournemouth enjoying an impressive unbeaten run in the Premier League.
“I will say the truth” – manager stands firm
Iraola acknowledged that some may doubt his claims but insisted he is being completely honest about his situation.
“I don’t pretend you believe me because a lot of people will not believe me, but it is what it is — I will say the truth,” he added.
“I don’t have any rush. I’ve taken a big decision, and now I want to focus on the final games.”
Decision driven by timing, not opportunity
The 43-year-old also revealed that his decision to leave Bournemouth was not straightforward, describing it as something he had been considering for some time.
“It has taken me a lot of time to decide. It has not been clear,” he explained. “There is not always one main reason.
“I probably don’t want to risk the feeling I have right now of satisfaction after these three seasons.”
Iraola suggested that his choice was influenced by a desire to leave on a high, rather than risk stagnation in future seasons.
“As human beings, we get tired of seeing the same faces,” he admitted. “I decided this was the right moment to put an end to this journey, which has been really special.”

With his future wide open and multiple clubs reportedly interested, Iraola remains one of the most intriguing managerial figures heading into the summer.
