Rangers captain James Tavernier has issued a defiant message to manager Danny Rohl and the Ibrox hierarchy, insisting he has at least four years left at the top level despite his current contract nearing its end.
The 34-year-old skipper, who has spent an incredible 11 years in Govan, is currently set to become a free agent this summer. With only two home games remaining on the schedule, the possibility of a farewell looms large, yet Tavernier remains “relaxed” even as no formal offer has appeared on the table.
“I’m Not Slowing Down”
Despite his age, Tavernier is adamant that his physical output remains elite. Known for his remarkable fitness and “robust” injury record, the right-back believes he is outlasting teammates a decade his junior.
”My body feels great. Easily, I think I’ve got another three or four years. Especially if young boys are cramping up before me,” Tavernier stated. While he joked about needing his teammates to finish more of the chances he “puts on a plate,” his desire to continue at the highest level is 100 percent certain.

With Rangers sitting just one point behind league leaders Hearts with five games to play, Tavernier is refusing to let contract talks distract from a historic title race. For the captain, lifting a second Premiership trophy would be the ultimate conclusion to his Ibrox chapter—should this be the end.
