Leicester City midfielder Jordan James has been honored with the Championship Young Player of the Season award at the EFL awards ceremony. While the 21-year-old has enjoyed a standout individual campaign, the achievement comes at a difficult time for the club, which currently faces the threat of relegation to the third tier.

James, who is on loan from French club Rennes, secured the prestigious accolade ahead of fellow nominees Bobby Clark, Ashley Phillips, and Sydie Peck. Since returning to England, James has made 31 appearances—including 26 starts—and has contributed 10 goals.

“It’s been a tough season, one that we wouldn’t have liked,” James admitted. “On a personal note, I’ve hit numbers that I didn’t think I was going to be able to hit at the start of the season.”

After a challenging stint in Ligue 1 with Rennes last season, James expressed his gratitude to Leicester City for the platform to rediscover his best form. With 126 Championship games already under his belt, the midfielder is looking to leverage this momentum to achieve “big things” in his career.
