Future Secured: Rising Star Callum Mills Pens First Professional Deal at Elland Road

The Thorp Arch production line is officially rolling again. Leeds United have announced that Academy midfielder Callum Mills has signed his first professional contract with the club, committing his future to the Whites until the summer of 2028.

From Academy Prospect to Pro

The 17-year-old’s rise through the ranks has been nothing short of impressive. After a standout 2025/26 campaign that saw him make 37 appearances across all competitions—including 14 appearances for Scott Gardner’s Under-21 side—Mills has been rewarded for his consistency and creative flair.

A versatile operator capable of playing in central midfield or out on the flank, Mills has already gained invaluable experience testing himself against senior opposition in the National League Cup and the Vertu Trophy, as well as gaining European experience against RSC Anderlecht Futures.

“I’m Feeling More Confident”

Reflecting on the milestone, the England youth prospect expressed his gratitude for the support system at Leeds.

“I just feel very grateful to be given the opportunity,” Mills told the club’s official website. “I am very proud to represent the club and I am glad to continue my journey here. I feel like I have just got a whole new level of confidence in myself. Training-wise, I feel like I have shown my ability.”

Mills highlighted his evolution as a creative player who is becoming increasingly comfortable taking risks on the pitch. “I don’t like playing simple all the time but I just do what I think is right… I am feeling more confident in showing what I can actually do.”

A Bright Horizon at Elland Road

For Leeds United, the deal is a statement of faith in their youth infrastructure. With Mills now locked into a two-year deal, the club will look to oversee his continued development as he pushes for further minutes in the U21s and eventually catches the eye of the senior coaching staff.

The transition from a promising academy talent to a professional footballer is the first step in a long journey, but for Callum Mills, the stage is set.

Join us in sending a massive congratulations to Callum on this fantastic achievement! Leeds fans, tell us—which academy starlet do you want to see breaking into the first team next? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
