Newcastle United have joined the race for one of the Championship’s hottest full-back prospects — but they’ll have to fight off a queue of Premier League suitors to get their man.
The Magpies are among several top-flight clubs keeping tabs on Norwich City’s Kellen Fisher, the versatile 22-year-old right-back who’s quickly becoming one of the most sought-after defenders outside the Premier League.
Why Newcastle Are Interested
Fisher’s appeal is obvious: an England under-21 international who racked up 47 appearances last season and can comfortably fill in at left-back too. For a Newcastle side always on the lookout for adaptable defensive options, that kind of positional flexibility is gold.
Norwich Digging In
Don’t expect a deal anytime soon, though. Reports from TeamTalk suggest Norwich are standing firm, with no intention of cashing in on their prized asset this summer. Fisher still has two years left on his Carrow Road contract, giving the Canaries plenty of leverage to resist any approaches.
The Competition Heats Up
Newcastle aren’t alone in their admiration — Everton, Leeds United and Brentford have all been linked with moves for Fisher, who arrived at Norwich from Bromley three years ago and has since developed into one of the Championship’s standout young defenders.
Expect his name to keep popping up as the transfer window progresses — even if Norwich’s resolve doesn’t budge.
