The Toronto Raptors are continuing to put the finishing touches on their squad ahead of the upcoming NBA campaign. According to league sources speaking with insider Chris Haynes, the Raptors have officially agreed to terms on a two-way contract with free-agent center Trey Jemison.
With four vacant positions currently available on Toronto’s 21-man offseason roster—including one open two-way slot—the franchise will not need to execute any corresponding roster moves to officially welcome the 6’10” big man to the organization.
A Journeyman Journey: Finding a New Home in Toronto
Jemison’s path to the NBA has been defined by resilience and constant hard work. After going undrafted out of UAB back in 2023, the towering center has spent his first three professional seasons carving out a niche by bouncing between the NBA and the G League.
During his rookie campaign, Jemison earned his stripes through short-term 10-day contracts with the Washington Wizards and Memphis Grizzlies. Since then, his professional passport has filled up rapidly, with stints on two-way deals across multiple organizations, including the Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans, Los Angeles Lakers, and New York Knicks.
While his minutes at the NBA level have been hard-earned, Jemison boasts valuable experience with 76 regular-season appearances under his belt. Last season with the Knicks, he saw action in 13 games, totaling 13 points and 18 rebounds across 82 minutes of floor time. However, it was down in the G League where he truly flourished. Playing a crucial role for the Westchester Knicks, Jemison anchored the paint across 31 outings, averaging an impressive 8.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.3 blocks in 27.7 minutes per night.
The Contract Breakdown: A Crucial Year Ahead
When June arrived, the Knicks opted against tendering Jemison a qualifying offer, allowing him to hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent. Now, he finds a fresh opportunity in Canada.
Because Jemison has accumulated three years of NBA service, this upcoming agreement carries a unique structural milestone: this will be the final season he is eligible for a two-way contract. Consequently, his new deal with Toronto covers a single season. If Jemison spends the duration of the campaign on his two-way slot without being waived or promoted to the standard roster, he will enter restricted free agency next summer, giving the Raptors full control over his future.
What Jemison Brings to the Raptors
By joining the fold in Toronto, Jemison slots directly into the team’s developmental pipeline alongside fellow two-way players Chucky Hepburn and 2026 second-round draft pick Jaden Bradley.
More importantly, his arrival addresses a vital need for frontcourt depth. Slotting in behind established anchors Jakob Poeltl and Trayce Jackson-Davis, Jemison provides much-needed size, rebounding prowess, and rim protection for Raptors head coach Darko Rajaković.
