Leeds United’s pursuit of one of Daniel Farke’s biggest summer transfer targets appears to have come to a crushing end after reports revealed Shea Charles is preparing to undergo a medical with Fulham ahead of a blockbuster £30 million move.
The development represents a significant setback for Leeds, who spent months trying to convince Southampton to sell the highly-rated Northern Ireland international. Despite multiple offers and sustained interest throughout the transfer window, the Whites have now been beaten to one of the Championship’s most sought-after young midfielders.
According to fresh reports, Charles is expected to complete his medical before signing a long-term contract at Craven Cottage, bringing an end to a transfer saga that has dominated Leeds’ summer recruitment plans.
Daniel Farke had identified the versatile 22-year-old as a perfect addition to his Premier League squad.
Capable of playing as a defensive midfielder, central midfielder, full-back or even centre-back, Charles’ versatility made him one of the standout names on Leeds’ shortlist as the club looked to strengthen ahead of their return to the top flight.
