West Ham United could be on the verge of losing yet another key player before the new Championship season even begins, with Brentford preparing a significantly improved offer for highly-rated left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf.

The Senegal international enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign in English football despite West Ham’s disappointing relegation from the Premier League. His consistent performances quickly established him as one of the club’s brightest talents, attracting attention from several top-flight clubs determined to secure his signature this summer.

Earlier in the transfer window, Brentford tested West Ham’s resolve with an opening proposal, only to see it rejected almost immediately. At the time, the Hammers made their position crystal clear, insisting Diouf was not available for transfer under any circumstances.

That stance, however, is now facing its biggest challenge yet.

Reports indicate Brentford are preparing a new package worth up to £40 million, a figure that could force West Ham’s hierarchy into a difficult decision. Although the Championship side are under no financial pressure to sell after generating huge sums from previous departures, such a substantial offer may prove impossible to ignore.

Diouf only arrived at the London Stadium last summer after completing a £22 million move from Slavia Prague, but he wasted little time adapting to the demands of Premier League football.
