Striker Hwang Ui-jo has officially signed a permanent deal with Alanyaspor in the Super Lig, bidding farewell to Nottingham Forest where he never got the chance to play for the first team.
The South Korean forward, who previously played on loan for Alanyaspor, has returned to the club on a one-year contract. Alanyaspor warmly welcomed him back, expressing their excitement to have him in their ranks once again.
Hwang arrived at Forest in the summer of 2022 from Bordeaux for a reported fee of £4 million, but was soon loaned out to Olympiacos before finding himself at FC Seoul for the latter half of the 2022/23 season. During his loan spells at Norwich City and Alanyaspor, he showed his potential with impressive performances.
Despite being a part of Forest’s squad, Hwang never made it onto the field for a competitive match, remaining as an unused substitute throughout last season. Now, with the permanent move to Alanyaspor, he is set to have a new start away from the Reds.
As Forest has focused on streamlining their squad this summer under head coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s guidance, Hwang’s departure marks another step in their restructuring process.
