‘We did not…’: Paul Warne singles out clear Derby County problem in ‘disappointing’ verdict after Sunderland defeat

Sunderland proved too strong for Derby County as they secured a 2-0 victory at the Stadium of Light, handing the Rams their fifth defeat of the season and leaving them in 13th place in the Championship table.

Despite showing promising signs in the early stages of the game, Derby was unable to match Sunderland’s quality on the ball, with Jobe Bellingham and Wilson Isidor both finding the back of the net for the Black Cats.

Paul Warne admitted that his side lacked the cutting edge in the final third and struggled to keep possession, ultimately leading to their downfall against a promotion-chasing Sunderland team. Warne highlighted the importance of improving Derby’s away form if they are to survive in the Championship this season.

With no points gained in their four away matches and only one goal scored in their last three, Derby faces a tough challenge in turning their fortunes around on the road. Warne will need to address this issue quickly to prevent a slide down the table and ensure a better balance between home and away performances.
