CONTRACT TO BE SEALED: Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham’s next positive signing

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur’s negotiations with Genoa for the January signing of Radu Dragusin are heading into the final stages.

With the need for more reliable depth at centre-back, Dragusin has emerged as Tottenham’s main target in that position this month. While there are other clubs interested in the 21-year-old Romanian, Tottenham has been eager to secure his signature.

Despite potential competition from Napoli, Dragusin is understood to have already approved a move to north London. Now, Romano has reported that Tottenham has initiated new positive contacts with Genoa, making progress in the negotiations.

The Italian journalist explained that the transfer is advancing towards its final stages as new positive contacts have been made. While Tottenham is currently making verbal proposals, an official offer is expected to follow soon.

Romano also revealed that Tottenham is aiming to wrap up the Dragusin deal next week if possible. With Cristian Romero sidelined with an injury and Micky van de Ven returning from his own, Tottenham is keen to find a new defender quickly.

Dragusin has been in good form for Genoa this season, not missing a single minute of their Serie A campaign. After helping Genoa win promotion from Serie B, he earned a contract until 2027. Despite primarily being cover for Romero, Dragusin has already played in the Champions League for Juventus.

If the deal goes through in the next few days, Dragusin could have six months of action as a Tottenham player under his belt by the time Euro 2024 rolls around.
