The 17-year-old midfielder has rapidly ascended the ranks at Stevenage, already accumulating 11 first-team appearances. His progress hit a significant milestone last month when he earned his first League One start in a match against Cardiff City.
Doherty’s potential has drawn attention from several clubs higher up the football pyramid.
