Ipswich Town’s promotion hero Wes Burns has opened up on his uncertain future at the club, admitting he is “incredibly proud” of his journey—but unsure what comes next as his contract nears its end.

Burns has become a fan favourite at Ipswich Town since arriving from Fleetwood Town in 2021, playing a key role in one of the club’s most remarkable modern eras. Back-to-back promotions and a return to the Premier League have cemented his place in Ipswich folklore.
Reflecting on the journey, the 31-year-old struggled to believe just how far the club has come in such a short time.
“No one could have written this,” Burns admitted. “If you said there’d be multiple promotions and a return to the Premier League, it would have sounded impossible. I’m immensely proud to have been part of it.”

Burns’ story has not been without adversity. A serious ACL injury suffered at Anfield in January 2025 threatened to derail his top-flight dream, keeping him sidelined for months and raising doubts about whether he could return to his previous level.
