Most recently, Giannikos held the position of Director of Strategic Partnerships & Media Projects at FIFA — world football’s governing body — having previously served as Director of Legal Strategic Projects and Director of Member Associations Services during a decade-long spell at the organisation.

Before his time at FIFA, Giannikos spent nine years at Olympiacos, one of Greek football’s most storied clubs, where he served as both Vice President and Board Member — experience that will be seen as directly relevant given Forest’s own ambitions to compete at a higher level.

Boardroom Experience Across European Football’s Biggest Institutions

The appointment doesn’t stop there in terms of pedigree. Giannikos also served as an Executive Board Member of the European Club Association (ECA) between 2012 and 2016, giving him first-hand insight into the politics and strategy shaping European football’s top clubs.

His résumé further includes stints as a Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) arbitrator, membership of various UEFA committees, and a position as a Board Member of European Leagues — placing him among a small group of executives with genuine influence across football’s governing structures.

Forest also confirmed Giannikos is a graduate of the London School of Economics, and has lived and worked across multiple countries both within and outside Europe throughout his career.
