Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has heaped praise on a defender as Tottenham reportedly eyes a deal for his signing.
Despite securing a £25 million agreement for Radu Dragusin from Genoa in the January transfer window, it seems that manager Ange Postecoglou is still looking for another center-back for N17.
The arrival of Dragusin is a relief for Spurs, who have faced an injury crisis in the center-back position. With players like Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero facing long spells on the sidelines, Postecoglou had to get creative with his team selections. The departure of Eric Dier to Bayern Munich in January also adds to the need for another defender.
Tottenham has been linked with several options, including Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, who have both been receiving high praise for their performances.
Branthwaite, in particular, has been in impressive form and the interest from Real Madrid and reports of Spurs pushing to sign him have further confirmed his status as a standout young talent in the Premier League.
Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports, described Branthwaite as “special” and emphasized the quality of young center-backs in the Premier League, underlining the potential importance of bringing in a player of Branthwaite’s caliber to Tottenham’s squad.
With Everton facing a tough relegation battle, Spurs may have a significant opportunity to convince Branthwaite to join their team, with the promise of a fresh challenge and a step up in his career.
