Shockingly, it was revealed that Leicester City had the highest wage bill outside of the Premier League’s top six teams, and none of their players had relegation clauses in their contracts, leaving them in a precarious financial position.
With a staggering wage bill of £60,190,000 for the season, Leicester City surpassed the likes of Southampton (£40,014,000) and Leeds United (£39,513,000) by a significant margin. This financial strain gave Leicester City a significant advantage in player negotiations, enabling them to command high transfer fees for players like James Maddison and Harvey Barnes, despite having only a year or two left on their contracts.
Despite facing challenges on the injury front, there were positive signs for Leeds United as Ilia Gruev was set to return to training ahead of their upcoming match against Coventry City. Additionally, Manchester Evening News reporter Conor McGilligan indicated that Gruev was expected to be fit to play on Saturday, providing a boost for the team.
