Wrexham executive Humphrey Ker is not ruling out the possibility of making a move for Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy this summer as the Reds prepare for life in League One.
Under Hollywood owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, Wrexham has enjoyed a meteoric rise, earning their second consecutive promotion after a 15-year exile from the Football League. As they face new challenges in the upcoming season, manager Phil Parkinson and his team are gearing up for the summer transfer window.
Known for convincing players from higher divisions to join their ranks, such as Paul Mullin, Steven Fletcher, and James McClean, Wrexham may be eyeing the Premier League winner Vardy, who is nearing the end of his contract with Leicester City at 37 years old.
When asked about a potential move for Vardy, Ker stated, “There’s nothing to say that Jamie Vardy wouldn’t be a great Wrexham player. It’s not a name I’ve had mentioned inside the building before but, you know, age and profile wouldn’t put us off.”
While Vardy has expressed his desire to continue playing, there is uncertainty about his future at Leicester, with manager Enzo Maresca keen on retaining the prolific striker. Nevertheless, Vardy’s potential availability has sparked interest from various clubs, including Wrexham, as they gear up for the upcoming season.
