Leeds United’s recent sale of Archie Gray and departure of Jamie Shackleton has left manager Daniel Farke with only one right-back from the seven he had last season. Despite former right-back Sam Byram favoring that position, injuries to both him and Junior Firpo mean reinforcements are needed for the full-back slots next season.
Throughout the previous campaign, the club had a total of seven right-back options including Gray, Luke Ayling, Shackleton, Djed Spence, Connor Roberts, and Cody Drameh. Now, all of them have either left or the contracts have expired, leaving a significant gap in the squad.
With Gray’s departure highlighting the need for defensive reinforcements, Farke must act fast to bring in at least two new full-backs before the start of the season. While Roberts could be a viable option, Burnley’s reluctance to strengthen a direct rival may pose a challenge.
Despite potential obstacles, the coaching staff must prioritize finding suitable replacements for the departed players to ensure a strong defensive line for the upcoming season. Time is ticking, and the pressure is on to secure the necessary signings as soon as possible.
